Leslie Whelan

Leslie Whelan has taught for 16 years in colleges, secondary schools, and private studios. She teaches at Austin College and performs with the Sherman Symphony Orchestra. Leslie serves as the Sherman Symphony Orchestra’s Education Director, and is the founding director of Austin College Summer Music Camp. 

Leslie received degrees in cello performance from Ithaca College and the University of Maryland, College Park. She completed Suzuki training for books 1-10 in 2012 after taking courses with Tanya Carey, Beth Cantrell, Pamela Devenport, Carey Beth Hockett, and Carol Tarr. Her past teachers include Evelyn Elsing, Uri Vardi, Elizabeth Simkin, Heidi Hoffman, Nicola Heinrich, and Suzanne Smith.
